EcoVadis is one of the world’s leading assessment platforms for corporate sustainability. Its methodology is based on international standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative, the UN Global Compact and the ISO 26000 Guidance on Social Responsibility. It assesses companies across four areas: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
ISS Switzerland showed improvement in three of the four areas assessed. There was a significant eleven-point increase in the rating for sustainable procurement. ISS improved its score by five points in labour and human rights and by four points in the environmental area.
This development is the result of various measures taken over recent years. These measures include the stronger integration of sustainability requirements into the supply chain, the electrification of the vehicle fleet, and programmes to reduce energy and resource consumption in building operations, among others.
“Receiving the EcoVadis Gold medal once again proves that sustainability is firmly embedded in our operating promise and in our day-to-day actions. The fact that we were able to improve our score by a further five points from an already high level is due to a strong team effort across ISS. Anyone who, like us, operates hospitals, research sites and transport infrastructure, among other things, must meet the very highest standards both operationally and in the areas of environment, supply chain and working conditions.”
Marc Amstutz, Head of Environment & Sustainability at ISS Switzerland.
For customers, the “Gold” rating is proof of this: Anyone who commissions ISS for Facility Services strengthens the sustainability performance of their own supply chain – as evidenced by one of the world’s leading assessment platforms.
In the separately assessed Carbon Management category, ISS Switzerland once again achieved the highest rating of “Leader,” as it did last year. Among other things, EcoVadis assesses the management of greenhouse gas emissions, reduction targets, measures, and reporting on decarbonisation.
For ISS, this is particularly relevant because of its role in building operations: The company manages more than 15,000 buildings in Switzerland, which enables it to reduce its own environmental footprint while also helping customers lower their energy consumption and emissions.
ISS is the leading facility management company in Switzerland. We develop, operate and maintain properties and infrastructures in which people work and live efficiently, safely and enjoyably. In this way, ISS creates the conditions that allow customers to concentrate on their core business. Its services range from technical facility management and infrastructural services to workspace and support services – integrated, data-based and consistently aligned with quality, safety and sustainability standards.
In 2025, the 14,000 employees of ISS Switzerland generated revenue of CHF 914 million. ISS Switzerland is part of the ISS Group based in Copenhagen. The company operates in 32 countries and is listed on Nasdaq Nordic.
