Valentina Jovanovic is ISS Employee of the Year

On Wednesday, January 18, 2023, Francisco Musa, ISS Facility Services Manager, received a call from the Heuberger Eye Clinic: “The opening of a new location in Balsthal was scheduled to take place in two days, but a post-construction cleanup still needed to be done,” Francisco recalls. There had been construction delays during the final stages of the project, which is why the request came on such short notice.
But when Valentina Jovanovic heard about it, she immediately offered to help. Valentina Jovanovic is a team leader who has been with ISS for 13 years and works full-time at the Oberaargau Regional Hospital in Langenthal. “That’s just how I am - I like to help,” she says with a laugh. On her own initiative, she organized the necessary supplies and a car, drove to the eye clinic, and - after her regular workday - carried out the cleaning from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 or 9:00 p.m.

“When I saw at the end how everything was so nice and new and clean, I was really happy,” says Valentina Jovanovic. And the client was happy, too: “Two days before, I thought it wasn’t going to work out. But then the opening went off without a hitch. Lots of people came; it was perfect. It wouldn’t have been possible without Valentina. She organized everything and just saw it through,” says site coordinator Jacqueline Meier enthusiastically.

Following the successful post-construction cleaning, the eye clinic contracted ISS to handle routine cleaning and the management of supplies. Valentina took charge of organizing this contract and training the ISS employees on-site. And she remains the direct point of contact for the eye clinic.

In addition, there are regular additional assignments, such as window cleaning in the summer. “We now handle everything with ISS - it’s a true partnership,” says Jacqueline Meier. With her great dedication, Valentina Jovanovic has succeeded in winning over the ISS client. Her dedication is a shining example of how two of ISS Switzerland’s core values - responsibility and quality - are embraced and lived out by all our employees.
