EqualVoice United: Counteracting Inequality
We have not yet achieved gender equality. A glance at the press, among other things, illustrates this: In Switzerland, 72 percent of media reports focus on men; worldwide, according to the Global Media Monitoring Project, that figure is as high as 82 percent. The situation is similarly skewed at the executive levels of major Swiss companies - as it is here at our company. At the management level, two-thirds of our employees are men and only one-third are women. We want to address this imbalance at a structural level.
That is why we are partnering with other leading Swiss companies in EqualVoice United. Under the leadership of the Ringier media group, gender equality in the Swiss economy is being advanced. In addition to issues such as pay equity, common goals and principles will be defined early next year, to which the companies will commit.
“If we want to promote female talent, we need a qualified pool of female candidates. They exist - without a doubt. But we want to reach out to them even more effectively - not just intuitively, as we have done so far, but with a structured plan.” André Nauer, CEO of ISS Switzerland
Gender Equality: Structural, Not Intuitive
Gender equality is one of the most important pillars of our diversity agenda. “With this initiative, we want to achieve gender balance and, among other things, specifically target women for male-dominated professions. The same applies to management positions. Here, we want to systematically develop women. If we want to promote female talent, we need a qualified pool of female candidates. They exist - without a doubt. But we want to reach out to them even more effectively - not intuitively as we have done in the past, but with a structured plan,” says André Nauer, CEO of ISS Switzerland.
Julia Braun, Director of People & Culture, sees even more opportunities in the EqualVoice United initiative: “As a media company with Switzerland’s most-read publications and as a driving force behind such an initiative, Ringier is sending a strong signal. That’s why we’re excited to take on this challenge together with other major Swiss companies. Together, we can make a real difference - I’m convinced of that.” In early 2022, the members of EqualVoice United will sign a charter.
